You're Invited

The BIG "to do" list

DONE - Collect and harvest nuts in Fall
DONE - Mulch beds in front of house and put in plantings after porch is done.
DONE - Repair screen door to gazebo
DONE! - Paint master bedroom
DONE! - Paint the chicken coop
DONE! - Pressure wash house siding
DONE! - Replace facia on side of garage
DONE! - Replace front porch
Finish mulching orchard
Finish off back deck underpinning
Garden to be plowed under
Have crushed rock brought in for horse aisle and run-in
Install barn gutter into french drain.
Install new garage doors
Paint back and side doors to garage
Plant cover crops in the garden this fall
Purchase wood burning stove

And my BUCKET LIST

All of these items can be found lurking in the recesses of my brain. They're not in any special order - just things I THINK I'd like to do before I die.
1. Learn how to spin
2. Take up weaving again
3. Buy a loom
4. Finish reading the Bible
5. Be able to remember Bible
Scriptures
6. Put up a small greenhouse.
7. Gather apples from my orchard
8. Roast marshmallows in our
bonfire pit with my grandchildren
9. Have room for everyone to
sit on a big front porch
10. Hang a porch swing
11. Finish the family genealogy
12. Learn to cook on a
woodburning stove
13. Go to Italy
14. Take a cruise down the Nile
15. Make cheese
16. Grow old with my husband (I think I'm already there.)
17. Have the time to read all the
books in my house
18. Finish off the basement and
stairwell
19. Get a teepee for the boys to sleep out in
20. Go to a dude ranch
21. Train the mini's to pull a cart
22. To leave this world before my children do

Saucy Tomatoes

This is my first year for growing San Marzano Tomatoes and I'm sold on them! I had heard they were the best sauce tomatoes in the world. They're larger than Romas and very meaty. Since they're an heirloom variety from Italy I'll be able to keep the seed for next year's garden. I just scoop out the pulp and seeds onto a paper towel and let dry. Afterwards, I pry the seed off the towel and place in an envelope, noting the variety and date the seed was harvested. I then store them in the basement where it is dry and cool.
